Key Facts

Smoking is the main cause of avoidable illness and premature death in Rotherham. Children in low income families are three times more likely to be exposed to passive smoking at home than children from professional families. Smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage, premature birth and low birth weight. Low birth weight is associated with serious health and developmental problems for babies. Stopping smoking is the single most important thing anyone can do to improve their health.

You’re up to 10 times more likely to stop with our help compared to willpower alone.

Cancer Research UK has launched an online sponsored quitting site www.sponsormetoquit.org in the run up to July 1st. Smokers who want to quit can create their own online sponsorship page and ask friends and family to support their quit attempt.
