Smokefree Rotherham will not happen overnight. However,
we hope that over a period of time, the aim of having a smokefree Rotherham
will become a reality on 01/07/2007.
We will achieve this by working with organisations across
the Borough to encourage employers to protect their staff by introducing smokefree
policies to create
cleaner, greener, safer and healthier environment.
A number of offices and workplaces have already introduced
such policies but we believe that some of these will need to be reviewed in
light of the
upcoming smokefree legislation for “all enclosed work and public places”.
Smokefree Rotherham will provide resources and support to help businesses
implement smokefree policies in their workplaces and create a “smokefree
culture”.
A smokefree environment is good for health, good for the working environment
and well supported by the general public
