Benefits of quitting smoking
• Quitting smoking is the
single best thing you can do to improve your health
• You look great, feel great and
have some extra money in your pocket every month
• It makes you feel like you have
a new lease of life
• Quitting smoking is the cheapest
and best way to improve skin quality and vitality
• You and your home will look and
smell cleaner
• Quitting smoking will greatly
reduce the risk of heart disease, heart attacks and cancer
• Quitting smoking will protect
the health of your friends and family. 85 per cent of smoke
may be invisible and odourless but it is still damaging people's
health. Wafting and blowing away smoke may seem like the right
thing to do but in reality, it makes little difference to
the amount of secondhand smoke inhaled by people around you

Key Facts:
Smoking is the main cause of avoidable illness and
premature death in Rotherham.
Children in low income families are three times more likely to be exposed
to passive smoking at home than children from professional families.
Smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage, premature
birth and low birth weight. Low birth weight is associated with serious
health and developmental problems for babies.
Stopping smoking is the single most important thing anyone can do to
improve their health.
You’re up to 4 times more likely to stop with our help compared
to willpower alone.
Cancer Research UK has launched an online sponsored
quitting site www.sponsormetoquit.org in
the run up to July 1st. Smokers who want to quit can create their own
online sponsorship page and ask friends and family to support their quit
attempt.
